Belt Filter Press Systems for Sludge Dewatering, Sludge Dewaterer
The belt filter press (sometimes called a belt press filter or belt filter) is an industrial machine used for solid-liquid separation.
Our belt filter press integrates sludge thickening and dewatering in one machine. By incorporating a sludge thickener, it offers high processing capacity in a relatively compact design, which can help reduce civil construction costs. The equipment can also handle sludge at different concentrations and may achieve effective treatment results even when the sludge concentration is as low as 0.4%.
Sludge thickeners can be classified into rotary drum thickeners and gravity belt thickeners based on their design. Accordingly, our belt filter presses are available in two configurations: drum thickening type and gravity belt thickening type.
How Our Belt Filter Press Works
After flocculation, the sludge is fed onto a porous belt for thickening and gravity dewatering. A large amount of free water drains through the belt under gravity, concentrating the sludge solids. The thickened sludge is then carried between two tensioned filter belts through the wedge-shaped pre-compression zone, followed by the low-pressure and high-pressure zones. As pressure gradually increases, water is separated from the sludge and a filter cake is formed and discharged.
Applications
Our belt filter press is designed for sludge dewatering across a wide range of industries, including chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, electroplating, papermaking, leather processing, metallurgy, slaughterhouses, food processing, winemaking, palm oil production, coal washing, environmental engineering, printing and dyeing, and municipal wastewater treatment. It can also be used for solid-liquid separation in industrial processes. Depending on the application, belt filter presses can support wastewater treatment and resource recovery.
Depending on the required treatment capacity and sludge characteristics, filter belts are available in widths ranging from 0.5 to 3 m. A single machine can offer a maximum processing capacity of up to 130 m³/h. Our sludge thickening and dewatering systems can operate continuously for 24 hours a day. Other key features include easy operation, convenient maintenance, and relatively low energy consumption, wash-water consumption, and polymer dosage compared with similar products.
Accessory Equipment
A complete sludge dewatering system typically consists of a sludge pump, dewatering equipment, an air compressor, a control cabinet, a clean-water booster pump, and a flocculant preparation and dosing system. Positive displacement pumps are recommended for sludge feeding and flocculant dosing. We can provide customers with a complete sludge dewatering system.
Features of the Integrated Machine
■ Belt Position Correcting System
When the filter belt deviates and contacts the guide rod of the belt tracking valve, the pneumatic cylinder moves the tracking roller sideways to correct the belt position. This system helps ensure stable operation and extend the service life of the filter belt.
■ Press Rollers
The press rollers are made of SUS304 stainless steel. They undergo TIG welding and finishing processes to provide structural strength and a smooth surface.
■ Pneumatic Tensioning Device
The filter belt is tensioned by a pneumatic cylinder to maintain proper belt tension and ensure smooth, stable operation.
■ Filter Belt
We select high-quality filter belts from renowned manufacturers in Germany and Sweden. Featuring excellent water permeability, durability and corrosion resistance, these filter belts help improve dewatering performance and ensure reliable operation.
■ Multifunctional Control Panel Cabinet
We prioritize components from internationally recognized brands to ensure quality and reliable operation. Electrical components are sourced from well-known brands such as Omron and Schneider Electric, while the PLC control system is supplied by Siemens. Delta or ABB variable frequency drives are available for stable performance and convenient control. The cabinet is also equipped with a leakage protection device to help ensure safe operation.
■ Sludge Distributor
The sludge distributor allows thickened sludge to be distributed evenly across the upper filter belt. This helps ensure uniform sludge distribution during pressing and can improve dewatering efficiency while extending the service life of the filter belt.
■ Semi-Centrifugal Rotary Drum Thickening Unit
The rotary drum thickening unit uses a rotating screen to remove a large amount of free water from the sludge. After separation, the sludge concentration can reach 6% to 9%.
■ Flocculator Tank
Different structural configurations are available to accommodate varying sludge concentrations and process requirements, ensuring thorough mixing of the polymer and sludge. This design also helps reduce polymer dosage and sludge disposal costs.
